2021 Developing Guidelines for Older Adults Subscribers at the Orthopedic Out-patient Clinics after Hip Joint Replacement IOSR Journal of Nursing and Health Science (IOSR-JNHS)
Background Guidelines after Hip Joint Replacement is the best evidence into best for older adults knowledge, practice and increasing awareness. Guidelines promotes quality of live (QOL) for older adults after surgery. The aim of this study This study was carried out aiming to assess knowledge and practices for older adults subscribers at the Orthopedic Out-patient Clinics after surgery regarding application of the developing guidelines. Design A descriptive research design will be utilized in this study was carried out in this hospital during October 2017. Setting This study was conducted at the Orthopedic Out-patient Clinics at Al-Helal Hospital at Cairo. Sample A purposive sample of fifty older adults who are subscribe in Out-patient Clinics. Tools Two tools were utilized to collect data pertinent to the study; one of them is interviewing questionnaire will be developed by the researcher, it includes a socio demographic data sheet and the second tool is assessment of the older adults' needs will be adopted and adapted by the researcher it includes two parts; part I: is performance of older adults’ activities of daily living after surgery and part II: is observational checklist for older adults’ practices related to exercises after surgery. Results Findings of the present study revealed that, there were (90%) of them were unsatisfactory level of total knowledge regarding pre-guidelines phase,(97.2%) of older adults’ mobility was completely dependent regarding their activities of daily living in the preguidelines phase and (50.3%) of older adults' practice related to exercises after surgery within 0-3 weeks were partially dependent in the pre-guidelines phase
