2022 Epidemiological Features of Cesarean Sections Among Pregnancy admitted to Imam Sadiq Teaching Hospitals Turkish Journal of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation
Abstract Background: Cesarean section rates are rising all around the world, and it's becoming one of the world's most serious public health issues. Several factors could be contributing to the rise in the rate and acceptance of cesarean sections. Objectives: To estimate the rate of cesarean sections and the circumstances that led to this procedure's indications. Methodology: This is a cross-sectional descriptive study conducted in a hospital setting on a convenient sample of 100 women admitted to Imam Sadiq Hospitals. Data was collected using a semi-structured, pre-tested questionnaire that included demographic information as well as information about the primary linked factors that act as cesarean section risk factors for women of various ages. Direct interviews were used to gather information. Results: In this study, the rate of cesarean section was 35%, which was greater than the WHO's recommendation. The most common variables related with cesarean section were oligohydramnios, hypertension, fetal distress, Malpresentations, placenta previa, and previous history of abortion and elective cesarean section. Conclusions: Among our hospitals, the Cesarean section rate was high, and it was more common in women who had completed secondary school, lived in an urban region, and had a sufficient monthly income. The high incidence rate of cesarean section was linked to a number of variables (both medical and non-medical), the most common of which was frequent cesarean section.
