human society has dealt with fake information and hoaxes since the period that precedes the invention of the Internet. According to the general definition, fake news on the Internet contains deliberately crafted material to deceive readers. Most media and social platforms use falsified information to advance their marketing goals and fulfill psychological warfare objectives. The main reason behind clickbait development is financial gain. Clickbait works through interesting titles and images that force users to select hyperlinks, resulting in increased advertisement revenue for the site. The article explores how social networking platforms enabled false news proliferation after their establishment [1]. Daily, social networking platforms add more and more users. Pew Research Center found that in August 2017, 74% of Twitter*(*запрещено в РФ) users obtained their news from the website, while 67% of Americans got their news from social media [2]. Twitter*(*запрещено в РФ) stands as a leading social networking platform for broadcasting breaking news and various kinds of information. Each day, over 145 million Twitter*(*запрещено в РФ) users log onto the platform, and every month 330 million individuals from various social media platforms do the same. Twitter*(*запрещено в РФ) demographic data show that female users constitute 34% of its population, while male users comprise 66%, age data reveal that 63% of its users belong to the 35–65 range.
