2026 Mobile energy sources Academic Press
Energy systems rely on various sources, ranging from small-scale to large-scale, to meet the needs of all consumers. As a result, multiple technologies have been developed to enhance system reliability in both standard and critical conditions. This chapter examines mobile energy sources to provide a comprehensive understanding of their role in energy systems. In this regard, an introduction is prepared in the first step to show the importance of such sources and their market in recent years. In the next step, mobile energy sources are classified into three main categories: energy generators, storage systems, and harvesters. Afterward, their main applications are examined in low-power devices, transportation, emergency, and backup scenarios, as well as in remote and off-grid areas. The main benefits and challenges are then proposed and discussed in the following. The conclusions and future trends are presented in the final section to provide a roadmap for future studies.
